Easy Prediction

I expect Jerry Jones to trade with the Dolphins to get Darren Mcfadden. Since they have two first round picks #22 and #28 and the Dolphins have needs pretty much everywhere it makes since for both teams. This will be the typical "flashy" move that one Jerry Jones loves to make every off-season. If Miami can obtain their 2nd round pick as well that would give them 5 picks(Bolts gave 2nd rounder for Chambers) in the first 61 selections of a very balanced and deep draft. I think it's the smart move for the Phins.

Oops!

Good win for Tennessee. I still think Memphis is a better team but after watching this game I think either Kansas/Indiana/UNC/UCLA will be playing on April 7th. A couple things I forgot to factor in before my bold prediction:
A) Joey Dorsey is a bum.
B) Calipari is an exceptional recruiter but not a very good coach.(Why would you not call a timeout when you are down by 1 with 10 seconds left?!)
C) Bruce Pearl is fantastic.

#1 versus #2! (well at least on paper)

So in about 38 minutes #1 Memphis takes on #2 Tennessee. When you look at these two teams I think it's clear that Memphis is better. They both play an exciting up-tempo style but the bottom line is Memphis just has more horses. Bruce Pearl has done a brilliant job turning Tennessee into a power but there 24-2 mark is a but deceiving. The SEC is having a down year with only 4 teams currently projected to make the tourney. I think Tennessee's lack of size will come into effect tonight as I expect Joey Dorsey to have a monster game inside. I don't think Dorsey is much of a player but there are examples all over the country of big men playing well against small teams (UConn's Haseem Thabeet is exhibit A) Chris Lofton is a fine player but he will have his hand's full with Miami Heat's point guard Derrick Rose. Also, Look for C.D.Roberts stock to rise at least 10 spots after this game. He is my current favorite player in college. He will make a fine pro. Tennessee looks like a #2 seed to me. My Bold Prediction Memphis 88 Tennessee 76, and it won't be that close.

Jim Boyland

So Tyrus Thomas had probably his best game this year against Golden St on Thursday. He played 26 minutes. In the last two games he has played a combined 21 minutes. I give up on the reasoning of playing Ben Wallace 35+ minutes a game. I know he is our highest paid player but that doesn;t mean he has to play all the time does it? Since he is probably our worst player! Oooooh he had 16 rebounds tonight!

Pondering the NBA Post-season

The current chances of Boston posting a 72-10 record or better are 0.2%.The only good thing about this NBA season is that my beloved 1996 Bulls record looks to be safe. That being said here is the current playoff seeds projections by Hollinger:
Junior Varsity - 1.Celtics 2. Pistons 3. Magic 4. Raptors 5. Lebron James 6. Wizards 7. Hawks 8. 76ers
Varsity - 1. Hornets 2. Lakers 3. Suns 4. Jazz 5. Mavericks 6. Spurs 7. Rockets 8. Warriors

The only worthwhile match-up in the LEast is Celtics/Lebron vs.Pistons
On the other hand the West could have serious drama. I like the Hornets but they may be a year away, the Lakers need to be healthy and synchronized, it's wide open.

Current Finals Projection: Celtics vs. Mavericks

Good Music

Some songs I enjoy by Yo La Tengo:
Autumn Sweater
Beanbag Chair
Season of the Shark
Our Way to Fall

I've heard these on Left of Center and these are some excellent tracks.

Also, Check out this totally BADASS Radiohead song.

So I guess Jack Johnson is cool?

After I attended Lollapalooza in my favorite city last August I was eagerly anticipating the 2008 music festival line-ups. So far so bad. Here's a look at two of the more prominent festivals line-ups Coachella, and Bonaroo.
Coachella = Worth Seeing-Death Cab, Racounters, My Morning Jacket,The National,Animal Collective,Cold War Kids,Stars,Vampire Weekend. Now for the Big Headliners Roger Waters performing Dark Side of the Moon(I'm good on aging rock stars cashing in on past glory), Portishead(??),Jack Johnson(snooze), Kraftwerk(??), The Verve(lol).
Bonnaroo = Worth Seeing-Pearl Jam, Kanye West, My Morning Jacket, Racounters, Death Cab, Vampire Weekend. Big Headliners-Metalica(rock and roll!!), Jack Johnson(snooze again), Robert Plant(see Waters comment), Allman Brothers, Willie Nelson, Phil Lesh. WOW! Organizers may want to move the date up to, oh i don't know lets say, next weekend. after all, Phil Lesh,Nelson, and The Allman Bros. are a combined 776 years old and who knows if they still be with us in June. Apparently, Death Cab,Racounters, My Morning Jacket, and Vampire Weekend are on a quest to play every domestic festival this year. But I still can't believe it, Metalica at Bonnaroo!! What once started as a hippie festival on a Tennesee camp ground has now become Headbangers Ball. I'd rather pay $175 to watch radiohead on-line then deal with these crap events.

Radiohead Cover The Smiths,Joy Divison!!!!

This clip is from Radiohead's webcast I think from December. It's the band playing a killer track from The Smiths album Meat is Murder "The Headmasters Ritual" Fantastic.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yjnGESlRNXk

This clip is from the same webcast, this time the band plays the last Joy Division song ever recorded, "Ceremony" I shouldn't say it but I like this version better. I'm well aware that New Order also recorded this song but I view that as a cover song.

Somehow Thom Yorke is able to sound similar to both Morrissey and Curtis. Amazing.

My First Annual All-Buyout Team

In honor of the NBA announcing their all-stars I thought it be fun to honor those who are so bad they should be honored for it.My criteria is that you must either A)play significant minutes or B) get way too much money to do way too little or C) get paid to stay away. Ladies and Gentlemen your 2007-2008 all buyout team:

Point Guard = Steve Francis ($16.5 millin) Hasn't played since 12/15. He did sign an endorsement deal with chinese shoemaker Anta in the offseason.
Shooting Guard = Mike Finley ($21.9 millin) Always liked the guy and he's good for 10 a night but my goodness look at that salary. I would love to imagine what cuban thinks about when he signs his check every two weeks.
Small Forward = Vince Carter ($13 millin) After the way he left Toronto he became very unlikeable. This guy is a fraud and I'm just happy that experts have stopped confusing him with a leader and an all-star.It's funny but Antawn may have turned out to be the better pro after all.
Power Forward = Raef Lafrentz ($12 millin) I know he's classified as a center, but it's too bad he's not.His stay in Portland has not been very productive.
Center = Ben Wallace ($15.5 miilin) Only two more years...only two more years...!

Well there you go thats the worst starting 5 $68.9 millin can buy you in today's NBA. Thanks to hoopshype.com for the salaries.

KAZAAM!!

What the hell is going on with the NBA? First the Grizz trade Pau Gasol to the Lakers for a shit sandwitch and a bag of doughnuts(not krispy kreme but those stale ones at farm fresh) then today the FIRST PLACE suns trade their best overall player(sorry but amare stoudemire only wants to dunk, and steve nash is well lets be honest for a sec. still steve nash) for the rights to pay shaq 40 million dollars. now i agree that the suns needed to bolster their front line and marion was the obvious choice to get dealt for various reasons. but come on this is the best you could do? (ben wallace, cough cough!!) the only logical answer is that their filming kazaam 2 and the grand finale is when steve nash rubs a bottle and shaq pops out and grants the city of phoenix their first o'brien trophy.why are former players assumed to make good general managers again?
